I am often approached by nonprofit directors who are not sure whether their organization is operating correctly, and who want to be either reassured that everything is fine or informed of any deficiencies so that they can make any necessary adjustments.

This scenario is so common that I have packaged my approach to it into a flat-fee, two-hour service that I call a “Wellness Check,” so-named because it gauges the health of your organization.

When we meet, we will review a checklist of common issues, beginning with the following and expanding according to your organization’s specific needs:

  • Formation Documents
  • Board Structure and Function
  • Governance and Management Models
  • Fundraising Practices and Revenue Sources
  • Classification of Employees, Contractors, Interns, and Volunteers
  • Governmental Reporting
  • Your Specific Questions and Concerns

You will walk away from the Wellness Check with a better understanding of your organization and at least three improvement-oriented, actionable tasks (usually more) that you can take back to your nonprofit and start work on immediately.
